2017 Hall of Fame
Friday night saw a packed Bisley Suite once again wallow in the nostalgia of all things Black & Amber as legendary players and our longest serving grounds man were all inducted into the Newport RFC Hall of Fame. Legends of a by gone age were George Boots and Jack Wetter who were international superstars either side of WW1. Fred Cox succeed his father in tending to the rugby, cricket, tennis, hockey pitches plus everything else that happened at Rodney Parade for 40 years.
Dennis Perrott was a flying wing in the sixties who played in the famous team that beat New Zealand whilst back row forward Paul Watts did the same against South Africa along with his captain John Anthony.
Paul Turner was an inspirational flyhalf in more recent times, whilst Andrew Coombs will need no introduction to Newport fans for his whole hearted performances for Newport, The Dragons and Wales.
It was a super event and we can now start looking forward to next year!
