Ashley Inspires A Win
Twelve year old Ashley Byrne was given the nod to perform mascot duties on Rememberance Sunday as The Black and Ambers hosted Llandovery in the Welsh Premiership. Ashley attends Ysgol Gyfen Gwent Is Coed and also plays for Whiteheads Steelers RFC. This was his first appearance at Rodney Parade as an official team member and the Drovers arrived on the back of a five match winning record so the task was a tall one. First Ashley met wingers Owen Williams and Jonny Morris before leading out the team with skipper Adam Brown. There followed an impeccibly observed minutes silence and playing of the last post to recognise the sacrifice made by members of the armed forces before the rugby began.
