Ryan Makes Mascot Debut
Seven year old Ryan Coombes made the derby with Bedwas even closer as he plays for their neibours Caerphilly RFC at under eight age grade. He wore the famous green jersey beneath his FoNR Mascot shirt as he lead out Newport on the famour Rodney Parade turf. Ryan who attends Ysgol Cymraeg Caerfilli was making his debut as a mascot and he got to meet crowd favourite, James Leadbeater before leading out Newport with captain Andy Brown. Newport took some inspiration from their young mascot as they held out for most of the match with fourteen men after two cardings but fell at the death to a last minute Bedwas conversion.
