Lauren Returns for East West Thriller
Lauren is one of our familiar long serving mascots who comes from a staunch Newport supporting family. She has lead out the team with several captains and this time there was another new face at the Newport helm. Lauren and captain Alex Jones ran out ahead of a team with a few new faces to take on old rivals Llanelli. The match turned out to be a thriller with Newport scoring the most tries but being mostly behind due to the boot of the Llanelli outside half who hardly missed the target all afternoon. A long injury break in the second half resulted in nearly ten minutes of extra time with Newports Chris Wannell going over and converting as the last piece of play to win the match. We like to think that Lauren's inspiration may have helped the determined efforts of the Newport squad.
