Newport beat South Africa - 1969 To recognize this great achievement Friends of Newport Rugby (FoNR) are arranging a re-union for the whole team on Thursday Oct 29th 2009 at Rodney Parade. Nearly all the team have indicated that they will attending and we are hopeful that the two players (Dai Cornwall and Alan Skirving) who no longer live in this country will somehow manage to make it to Rodney Parade that evening ! The evening will consist of a get together of the players and their guests in the Brecon Lounge followed by an evening in the Rodney Hall which will also include a re-run of the highlights of the match and a Q&A season with the players. We are delighted that Phil Steele, former Newport RFC player and BBC Wales Sports Reporter has offered his services as compere for the evening. Space will be limited to a total of 180 people and anyone wishing to attend should contact FoNR for tickets. The prices are £5 (for FoNR members) and £7.50 (for non-FoNR members).
