Community Player Receives Award. This season, the Trust agreed to ask one of their sponsored players to be a Community Player and help out with some of the work that is done with youngsters in the surrounding area. We asked Will if he was interested and he was enthusiastic about being involved. He demonstrated this perfectly when we asked him to come and meet our sponsored team from last season. He drove all the way from Bristol on a wet and cold winter evening to meet the young players at Caerleon U11 and had some photographs taken with them. As a thank you, the Trust asked matchday mascot, Lauren Parry, to award Will a tankard. We hope however, that he refrains from drinking beer out of it until after the end of the season. The Trust intends nominating a player in this role every season for the future and we hope that it helps to show the appreciation of Newport RFC to all who put so much time into mini and junior rugby in the area.
