Friends of Newport Rugby donate £2000 The Friends of Newport Rugby are making a major financial contribution of £2000 to help our team be better prepared for each and every match they play. The money will be used to provide nutritional and high energy food and drinks for all of the match day twenty two to enable them to be at their peak when they take to the pitch. The Trust is also funding the services of a specialist sports masseur who is being contracted to help the players recovery from injury and also help them tone up in preparation for each game. Newport RFC Team manager Phil Ramsey commented; ‘The foods, drinks and treatment that are being kindly provided by Friends of Newport Rugby will make a huge positive impact on the squads match day preparation. We used it for the first time against Maesteg last week and that coincided with our best performance of the season so far. The Newport team will now benefit from the sort of pre-match preparations that fully professional teams use and we hope to create a climate within the squad that enables them to be at their best every time they take to the pitch.’ Al Cording, FoNR Fund Raising Officer commented, ‘We want to make sure that the Newport team competes at the best of its capability. Anything that FoNR can do to help with this either financially or through volunteer effort we will strive to achieve. We are very grateful to all of our members and the Newport supporters for helping us with our various fundraising initiatives that enable us to provide support such as this. I would encourage each and every Newport supporter to become a member of FoNR so that we can do more of this work in the future.' Kev Jarvis, Trust Secretary |
