Matchday Mascot Scheme

Over the course of this season, the community section of the Trust has been able to organise matchday Guards of Honour for the teams as they take to the pitch. This gives local youngsters from the surrounding area the opportunity to meet our players and experience taking to the hallowed Rodney Parade turf in front of the cheering crowd. They are then able to watch the match with the kind compliments of Rodney Parade Ltd.

Trust Committee members believe that this type of activity is essential in encouraging more youngsers to become involved with rugby in Newport. So far our guests have included several junior rugby teams and school groups from the area and we already have further guests lined up.

To compliment this scheme, and again with the full co-operation of Rodney Parade Ltd, the Trust are launching a matchday mascot scheme where a young supporter can join the team captain as he leads the team out onto the pitch before kick off. We have had a good response so far and have arranged some mascots already so please look out for them on match days and give them a cheer. We are planning to run this scheme jointly with the Newport Official Supporters Club and look forward to junior members of both supporter's groups taking part in the future.

Our next guests will be Bettws RFC junior section who will be at Rodney Parade on 11th February and our first mascot will be Ethan Brussalis who will be appearing on 25th February. Please give the kids a big cheer when you see them supporting Newport on matchdays.
